LEARNING
At ISP, learning is a journey of authentic discovery to develop understanding, skills, and character. It is iterative, meaningful, social and exciting.
Our Mission, Core Values, and Definition of Learning articulate the learning experiences we aspire for students to have, while our learner competencies describe what students should increasingly know, understand, be able to do, and demonstrate as learners through those experiences. The ISP Way translates these aspirations into shared professional practices. Within our Learning strategic priority, we identify and close the gaps — in practice and in student experience — between these aspirations and current reality.
WELL-BEING: The heart of learning
At ISP, well-being is nurtured through the cultivation of an environment that ensures people feel safe, valued, and connected. Each member of our community is supported in building the habits, systems, and relationships that make living ISP’s Core Values sustainable. Well-being is the Heart of Learning.
Our Well-Being definition articulates the sustained capacity we aspire for every member of our community — students and adults alike — to build: meaningful engagement in learning and work, genuine relationships, and purpose, supported by conditions that meet psychological, physical, and social needs. We will identify where those conditions are currently weakest — in how we hire, onboard, structure the school day, build relationships, measure well-being, reduce complexity, and invest in adult growth — and commit to closing those gaps over the next three years, moving well-being from a standalone initiative to the operating system of the school.
VALUE PROPOSITION: Committing to what makes ISP exceptionally unique
ISP will clarify, operationalize and consistently deliver on a set of commitments that are deeply aligned with the mission, core values and our definition of learning. Striving for genuine excellence, these commitments will guide decisions in admissions, hirings, program design and resource allocation.
Over three years, ISP will move from defining and validating what makes the ISP experience distinctive, to consistently delivering those commitments across the school, to demonstrating through evidence that our community experiences what we promise.
