The International School of Panama (ISP) proudly stands as an educational partner with the Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy (CMRA), a collaboration that reflects the school’s commitment to world-class, future-focused learning. Through this partnership, ISP offers a range of robotics microcredentials based on a research-driven approach to Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Exclusive Robotics Microcredentials in Latin America
ISP is currently the only school in Latin America certified to offer up to five CMRA microcredentials. Students who master all five areas are awarded the SMART Robotics Technician qualification. This comprehensive program focuses on the essential Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes (KSA) required for Robotics Technicians—skilled professionals who build, maintain, and troubleshoot robotic systems across various global industries.
Advanced Software Foundations and AI Integration
One of these credentials, Software Foundations, introduces students to core robot control concepts with a focus on navigation, sensing, and machine vision. In the most recent project, students utilized the ShieldBot robot and HuskyLens AI camera to adapt and validate code through an iterative software engineering process.

As they progressed, students developed increasingly complex control algorithms incorporating loops, conditionals, and AI-driven perception. This enabled their robots to interpret visual data, navigate environments, and solve real-world challenges with industry-relevant practices.
Portable Evidence of Excellence
As a culmination of this work, students earn a Carnegie Mellon Robotics Academy-aligned microcredential, recognizing their demonstrated mastery of specific robotics and AI competencies. This achievement provides meaningful, portable evidence of learning that extends beyond a traditional grade or transcript.
Through its growing portfolio of robotics credentials and its partnership with Carnegie Mellon, the International School of Panama continues to position its STEM program at the forefront of global innovation.
