At ISP, we believe that student learning is strongest when teachers are supported, challenged, and continuously growing in their practice. This belief guides our professional learning strategy and reflects our commitment to excellence as a school.
This spring, ISP is proud to participate in the inaugural International Educator Residency Consortium (IERC), a professional learning partnership with Teachers College, Columbia University, and EDU.
A rigorous and meaningful opportunity
The IERC is a selective, fully funded, 18-month program that supports both early-career and experienced educators through collaborative learning, mentorship, and certification.
Through this program:
- Local teachers and Learning Assistants (Residents) earn an International Teaching Certificate
- Academic Team members (Mentors) earn a Mentorship Certificate
Both credentials are internationally recognized and endorsed by Teachers College, Columbia University.
Learning through practice and mentorship
Participants engage in weekly learning labs, co-planning, observation, feedback, and reflection, all embedded within their current roles at ISP. This ensures that professional learning directly impacts classroom practice and student experience.
Mentors guide and support Residents through structured collaboration, strengthening our professional learning community while developing leadership capacity within the school.
Why this matters for students
When teachers deepen their instructional expertise and work closely with mentors, students benefit from:
- Thoughtful, well-designed learning experiences
- Stronger feedback and support
- Consistent, high-quality instruction
ISP’s investment in this program reflects a long-term commitment to both teacher growth and student success. Participants commit to continuing their work at ISP after certification, strengthening stability and institutional knowledge within our community.
Every learner, every level
Our mission calls us to inspire and challenge every learner. Through the IERC, teachers grow as learners, mentors grow as leaders, and students benefit from an even stronger learning environment.
Teaching excellence is not achieved overnight, it is built through intentional learning, collaboration, and shared purpose. This program is one more way ISP lives that commitment.
